Censorship Class at the Osher Institute

Just complete teaching my first two classes on Censorship in the USA through the Osher Institute for Lifelong Learning at CSU Chico.  All went well.  It was a great opportunity to reach a new audience with some of the stories hidden by major US media and introduce people to the Peace Panel Project.  Plans are in the works for a more expanded version of the class next Spring.

Unity In Diversity in Paradise

Thanks to Lucy and the staff at CPJC we put together a neat booth at the Unity in Diversity Festival in Paradise yesterday, 6/13/15.  The air was cooler than Chico, we had a nice breeze, a nice crowd, music that got people dancing, great food, yummy smoothies, kids delighted by bubbles, a professional quality youth dance company, and Michael the juggler/balloon creationist.  We sold some books and handed out flyers.  It was time well spent encouraging activism.

Bill McKibben 350.org

The latest 2' x4' Peace Panel for Save Oroville Trees was unveiled at the Bill McKibben speech last Friday.  Save Oroville Trees shared a table with Chico Tree Advocates.  Bill had an interesting address about the impending shit that is going to hit the fan...10 years....20 years.....30 years down the road.  He encouraged us to go solar and hit the streets.  Darn Exxon anyway.  I was struck by a question from the crowd, "Why isn't our materialism and gas burning habits more of the equation?"  I read the Climate Assessment Study.
I wondered what if we all quit driving tomorrow?  Our choices may indeed be driving the impending disaster.
