Saturday Farmer's Market - Mini Exhibit

We go to the Farmer's Market anyway so why not bring the Mini Peace Panel Project.  Here is Sally checking out the exhibit.  While she shops, I greet folks coming to the market with a "Good Morning", a flyer and a smile.

The Peace Panel Project's mini ( 9" x 19" ) panels have popped up at the Chico Peace Peace Vigil and the Downtown Chico Saturday Farmer's Market lately, encouraging people to support their local peace group.  This is a picture of Charles and mini panels on Third and Main.

Pastors For Peace Chico 2012

The "Blue Green Machine" of the Pastors For Peace caravan hit Chico this July 6th about 6pm and a good time was had by all.  The big blue green bus pulled up in front of Subud Hall in Chico to cheers and smiles all around.  A good crowd gathered for a good pot luck meal followed by a review of the annual violation of the  U.S. blockade of Cuba.  What a sad history that is.  Even CBS's 60 Minutes has had a show that mocks the  blockade.  And we learned about the Cuban 5.  Described by the great Howard Zinn in 2007 as, "An unforgivable act of cruelty."   It motivates me to write another letter in their defense.

Peace Action at Beale Air Force Base, May 30th

Inspired by the presence of Cindy Sheehan and others, the Peace Panel Project arrived at Beale AFB just outside of Marysville at 6am last May 30th.  I unveiled a new panel and was video taped by Elsa Rassbach, a film maker from Germany.  Look for her films "We Were Soldiers" and "The Killing Floor".

Limitations of Major Media

One of the biggest things to happen to major media in my lifetime was the overturn of the "Fairness Doctrine".Adopted in 1949 and upheld by the Supreme Court in 1967 the "Fairness Doctrine" just said that if you are going to have something controversial on, then you need to allow some time for the other side.  It was called "the most important requirement of media operation".  In 1987 Ronald Reagan packed the FCC and they threw it out.  Now, if you buy a quart of milk at Safeway, you have no way of knowing if carcinogenic growth hormone is in it or not.  In Canada and Britain you can buy milk in major stores and know that it is free of hormones.  They have a "Fairness Doctrine", they found out about it and banned it.    Sign our petition at change.org  to reinstate the "Fairness Doctrine".

Tax Day Action with Chico Peace & Justice Center

The Project was in the Downtown City Plaza for the CPJC Tax Day Action.  Steve and Tammy got opinions from the citizens on the ways our tax dollars are spent.  A press release will detail the results of their survey.

Connecting the Dots Conference

The Project was well received at the Connecting the Dots Conference Saturday, April 14th in Chico.  We sold a few books, peace buttons, stickers and enjoyed encouraging comments from the crowd.
