Farmer's Market 4/25/15

It was a pleasant day, after the rain, cool, partly cloudy.  The air was fresh.  I got to the Market earlier than normal, about 8 am.  I wanted to beat the band that took my spot last weekend.  And I did it, but before I could finish setting up, here they came.  They set up behind me and just a bit north.  And boy, was I glad they did.  They, "The Upstairs Neighbors" were sooo good.  They drew a crowd that was a benefit to our exhibit and made the day more enjoyable.

Earth Day Movie Night

Scott Murphy and Charles set up our table top exhibit at the entrance to the mezzanine of the Sierra Nevada Brewery "Big Room" on Earth Day Movie night. We were well received and got our message of "FREE TREES" out to the attendees. And the house was packed. It was a good night!

Earth Day at Butte College 2015

We set up on the Butte College, Oroville Campus, green about 8 am.  The decision on the  Panel arrangement was differed to Chuck's original idea of alternating directions.  We enjoyed hearing educational presentations from Lucas Ross-Merz of the Sacramento River Preservation Trust and Aramenta Hawkins of the Chico Peace & Justice Center.   We sold a few books and introduced many students to Nonviolent Communication, Ruses for War, Project Censored and the Better World Shopping Guide.  It was a good day.

Farmer's Market 4/18/15

What a wonderful day!  We set up on the northeast corner (opposite from our usual) to the charming sounds of Brenda's Harp music.  Our front four Peace Panels were Chico Tree Advocates, Fear is a Faulty Habit, Courage is the Most Important Virtue and Support Your Local Peace Group.  Lin Jensen, our local Zen Master admired our Panels and delighted us with words of wisdom.  Former City Councilmen stopped by and expressed their appreciation and we got a new Chico Tree Advocate Volunteer to sign up.  It was a good day.

Tax Day Exhibit on Broadway 2015

You could have seen us.  Doug, Diane, Caroline and I in front of the old Post Office April 15th reminding all those last minute taxpayers where their tax money goes.  Diane and Caroline confronted Postal patrons at the entrance and Doug and I were on the corner of Broadway and 5th Street holding up these 3 Peace Panels, in a pretty stiff breeze, to the approval of many passers-by.

Career Builders / Counter Recruitment at Inspire High

Career Builders was at it again.  This lunch time we had our table set up at Inspire High in Chico, CA.  We met with many students and handed out many brochures offering employment, scholarships and adventure alternatives to the military.  The weather held for the time we had it was sunny and nice.  We also have a proposal pending to address a class of seniors in the future.

Pancakes for Peace 2015

A good time was had by all at the CPJC 2015 "Pancakes for Peace" this Easter.  We packed the CARD Center from about 9 to Noon, renewed old friendships and acquaintances, chowed down on three different kinds of pancakes, fruit salad that was great, hiding and finding 100 + dozen eggs, an army of screaming kids, it was great. Chico Tree Advocates got some new volunteer sign ups and we were showing off the first draft of a new flyer we made for the Save Oroville Trees group.

Farmer's Market 4/4/15

It was another wonderful day at the Chico Saturday Farmer's Market.  We were giving away cupcakes courtesy of my daughter Camille Withuhn in honor of my 66th birthday.  Our booth was more popular than ever!  Don't forget to come and see us at Movie Night in the Big Room on Earth Day night 5:30 pm.
