Chris Hedges before "Rise Up October" rally

If you haven't heard Chris Hedges speech before the "Rise Up October" rally you are in for a treat. Go to  Democracy Now.org and put "Chris Hedges" in the search bar.  Most inspiring speech I've heard in a while.

Manufacturing Consent

After seven years of promoting just four books, Nonviolent Communication, Ruses for War, Project Censored's annual, and Better World Shopping Guide, the Peace Panel Project has decided to pick up a fifth, Manufacturing Consent, by Chomsky and Herman.  Merry Christmas.

Tree Planting

Chico Tree Advocates was on the job today!  Sterling , Robert and I got two more Chico Street Trees planted before the rain got heavy.  An October Glory Maple on E. 3rd Ave. and a Dogwood on the southeast corner of 8th Ave and Magnolia.  Thanks to the property owners for their permission and thanks to our donors for the funds to buy the trees.  We bought thirty trees Tuesday and we have already

distributed sixteen to Advocates to plant and our core crew has planted two!  More on Monday!  For the Future of Our Urban Forest!   Call if you want a free tree!  Charles 530-518-1417

High Noon @ 12-12 Climate Solutions Rally

The BEC / Chico 350 "Climate Solutions" Rally was well attended especially for a cold, nearly winter, day.  The few drops of rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the crowd.  It was fun to see Steve and Susan interviewing folks, perhaps for a future Ecotopia Radio show (Tuesdays at 6 pm on KZFR).  Our Chico Tree Advocate / Peace Panel Project booth got good action lots of interest, conversations and Nonviolent Communication, Ruses for War, Better World Shopping and Censored 2016 book sales (27% off retail).  We handed out brochures on those topics and Career Builders, Move to Amend and Manufacturing Consent.  And as an added bonus, volunteers showed up to help set up and pack up.  Thank you to our volunteers.  I couldn't do it without you.  Our (hand painted) "Chico 350" banner graced the stage and made a good vocal point.  Unfortunately I didn't whip out my camera until the crowd had thinned.  Food Not Bombs, Rain, Peter and Page were there with the best veggie stew.   Yum yum.

A good time was had by all.
