One of the biggest things to happen to major media in my lifetime was the overturn of the "Fairness Doctrine".Adopted in 1949 and upheld by the Supreme Court in 1967 the "Fairness Doctrine" just said that if you are going to have something controversial on, then you need to allow some time for the other side. It was called "the most important requirement of media operation". In 1987 Ronald Reagan packed the FCC and they threw it out. Now, if you buy a quart of milk at Safeway, you have no way of knowing if carcinogenic growth hormone is in it or not. In Canada and Britain you can buy milk in major stores and know that it is free of hormones. They have a "Fairness Doctrine", they found out about it and banned it.
